CACY

The Centre d’Art Contemporain of Yverdon-les-Bains opened on 1st June 2013 under the wonderful interior arches of the Hotel de Ville. It thus replaces the former municipal gallery of the Hôtel de Ville after 30 years’ activity. As the first space of its type in French-speaking Switzerland – the concept of contemporary art centres is more developed in the German-speaking part of the country -, the CACY presents four exhibitions a year over 300 m2. Guided tours, lecture cycles, night openings, activities for young visitors, brunches and exhibits outside the premises are all part of the programme, as the centre is committed to building bridges between art and the general public. Besides monographic shows centred on one artist, the centre enjoys setting up dialogues between the work of different artists in the framework of thematic exhibitions (dance, time, prints, etc.). Some artists shown in the past:Albertine, Berclaz de Sierre, Christoph Draeger, Joëlle Flumet, Iris Hutegger, Isabelle Monnier, Nicolas Muller, Isabelle Pralong, Koka Ramishvili, Sophie Schmidt, Swann Thommen, Bernard Voïta, Aurélie William Levaux, Elisabeth Llach.
