Galerie Focale

In 1982, two enthusiasts decided to open a non-profit gallery right next to the Nyon Castle; they were defending expressive photography, at the crossroads between aesthetic research and documentation. Three years later, the Focale association was created to allow exchanges between photographers and the public. The gallery has not lost its militant feel today and shows contemporary documentary photography, based on social and environmental problems. Regular shows and encounters with photographers punctuate exchanges between the space and its visitors. Librairie Focale, opened in 1989, proposes reference works while giving young photographers an often welcome showcase. Finally, since 2012, the Focale association has had its own prize.
