Founded in 2009, the Association Kunsthalle Marcel Duchamp aimed to organise an event (conference, concert, exhibition, intervention) dedicated to Marcel Duchamp and his work in the Chexbres region around the Forestay cascade in 1946. After this event, the association’ s founders decided to inaugurate the “smallest museum in the world”: a small, capsule-shaped structure mounted on a pylon with a panoramic window that shows the landscape in transparency. Designed as a homage to Duchamp’ s Boîte-en-valise, this very atypical space offers four to seven shows a year, with emerging and world-renowned artists. Located on the quay of Cully, this mini museum also stands out because it can be visited 24/7. The KMD also has its own publishing house that offers carefully designed artists’ and theoreticians’ books. Some artists shown in the past: Cildo Meireles, Ai Weiwei, Haegue Yang, T.R. Ericsson, Ecke Bonk, Vanessa Billy, Thomas Locher, Armen Eloyan, Jérome Hentsch, Norbert Binsky, Vincent Kohler, Florian Domois.
